Engine exhaust gas is received in the exhaust manifold (18) which has at least one structure. The manifold has a first section (28) with a first thickness accommodating auxiliary cooling during the operation of the engine. A second section (30) provides a lesser auxiliary cooling than the first and the first thickness is thinner than the second. The manifold comprises at least two plate materials which constitute the first and second sections. A catalyzer reduces or inhibits harmful constituents in the exhaust gas. It is fitted in the vicinity of the outlet aperture of the manifold. The manifold is used in conjunction with engine with cylinders in V-formation.
