The light and especially transparent region is made first, then the darker or more intensively-colored regions of the workpiece. An Independent claim is included for equipment carrying out injection molding of colors. Interchangeable cores (12,12') are provided. The first (12) (not shown) defines a cavity with the matrix (10) for molding the light plastic as a pre-injected blank. The second core (12') is inserted to form, together with the matrix and the blank, a fresh cavity for the darker region (28). The blank contacts only a narrow edge strip (34) around the cavity. Preferred features: In the first stage a flat part of light or transparent material is made. In the second stage a darker frame is made, to surround it.
