The invention provides a device and a method for sensing humidity with high precision, which are suitable for air conditioners. A humidity sensing device includes a humidity sensor section (10) for outputting a voltage which sequentially changes with a change of the humidity of the air and a step-output circuit (20) for converting the voltage output from the humidity sensor section (10) to a voltage which changes stepwise every predetermined voltage range and outputting the converted voltage.
