PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pumping device capable of pumping water by making use of the weight of water without using external power. SOLUTION: A driving part A for constituting a pumping device is provided with a plurality of tanks 4 connected on both sides of one rope 3 laid on a pulley 2 on the upper part of a frame 1, and having check valves 6; water moving gutters 7 on which the bottoms of the tanks 4 are loaded when the frame 1 is lowered, and for dropping water discharged by opening of the check valves 6 of the loaded tanks 4 to the lifted tanks on the opposite side of the rope 3; stoppers 12 for locking the topmost tank in the lifted position and for releasing the tank by floats 13 when the tank is full filled; and branch pipes 20 with check valves, for supplying water from a water supplying tank 18 to one tank locked by the stopper 12. A pumping device B is provided with pumps 8, 9 for pumping external water by piston rods 10, 11 connected to the lowermost tanks of a plurality of tanks 4 mounted on both sides of the rope 3. Water is pumped by a water pumping pipe 25 through a check valve 21.
