PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head having a support plate that follows a pressure of a platen roller so that the plate having a camber is flattened. SOLUTION: A thickness of a support plate 20 to which a head substrate 21 having a heater 9 mounted thereon is fixed is not less than that of the head substrate 21 nor greater than a double of the thickness thereof. Or, the thickness is set to be one between 5% and 15% of the width of the support plate 20 in the direction of the short side thereof. The support plate 20 is flattened by following the pressure even when the support plate 20 has quite a small camber in a condition that the plate is not pressurized, thereby preventing blurring in the printing by suppressing influence by the chamber.
