PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the judgement of use limit of a carrier material holding an object to be polished and exchange time in polishing of the object to be polished. SOLUTION: This is a carrier material consisting of a laminated plate heated, pressurized, and molded by overlapping layers of a thermosetting resin impregnated sheetlike fiber basic material, and a layer having a color different from that of a surface layer is arranged in an inner layer of the carrier material. An arrangement position of layers having different colors is set to a position of wear allowable limit thickness of the carrier material worn from its surface in a polishing process of an object to be polished.
