PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new tripeptide obtained from the solution of a decomposition product of dried bonito by a protease and having inhibitory action on active oxygen. SOLUTION: This new tripeptide is expressed by the formula Met-Lys-Met having an L-amino acid sequence and is obtained by treating dried bonito with a protease. The tripeptide is a radical eraser and an antioxidant both against active oxygen, and has only extremely low toxicity.
