PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of head rubbing or the like due to waviness or curling even when an ink jet recording sheet of a large size is used, by a method wherein a layer containing thermoplastic organic macromolecular particulates is provided on a paper substrate and the substrate is made to have a heat shrinkage factor in a cross-machine(CD) direction in a specified range. SOLUTION: Stuff slurry constituted mainly of hardwood bleached kraft pulp is prepared and a substrate for an ink jet recording sheet having a basis weight of 80 g/m2 and a heat shrinkage factor in a CD direction of 0.53% for instance, is produced. A coating solution which is constituted of polyolefin-series latex, a water dispersion of thermoplastic organic macromolecular particulates, of 25 pts.wt. (solid content) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone of 3.0 pts.wt. and of which the solid content is about 30% is applied on the substrate by a curtain coater so that the dry coating amount be 25 g/m2, and dried to produce the ink jet recording sheet. |
