PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with low drive voltage, high quick responsiveness and high contrast. SOLUTION: This reflection-type liquid crystal display device is obtained by interposing a liquid crystal composition 21 exhibiting cholesteric phase at room temperature and comprising a liquid crystal mixture and a chiral material between a pair of substrates 11 and 12 forming electrodes with one or both thereof transparent, wherein the liquid crystal mixture contains 45-60 wt.% of a liquid crystalline phenylcyclohexane compound and 5-15 wt.% of a liquid crystalline tolan compound.
