PRODUCTION OF SINTERED REACTION BONDED SILICON CARBIDE SINTERED PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a reaction sintering silicon carbide sintered product having properties of a high density and high strength by subjecting a molded product made through the method of casting to reaction sintering treatment. SOLUTION: Silicon carbide powder and water easily dispersible carbon black are dispersed in water, and a slurry of liquid dispersoid controlled at pH 6-11 is cast into a molding block and to burn the dried molded product in a silicon-intervened state in vacuum or in a non-oxidative atmosphere at >=2,000 deg.C. The water easily dispersible carbon black has hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups both formed by oxidation treatment in the total quantity of >=3 μeq/m2 functional groups on the surface of a carbon black particle.
