A filter for aerosol generators comprises a pile of identical filtering units each constituted by a frame with parallel elements extending across the frame, said pile being built up so that the parallel elements of each unit have an angular shift about the axis of the pile in relation to those of the next successive unit. In Fig. 1 each unit consists of outer and inner rings 1, 2 with supports 3, and a series of parallel blades 4 and transverse blades 5. Each blade 4 has a sharp lower edge, and the outer ring has a projection 8 and a notch 9 which engage a similarly shaped notch and projection respectively in adjacent units. The units are mounted on a spindle, Fig. 7, and a conical deflector 13 is provided. The deflector may, alternatively, be arranged at the top of the units or intermediate a group of units. The atomizer comprises a gas pipe 19 and a liquid pipe 20 leading to an atomizing head 18. A liquid container is screwed to a casing 17 at 21. The sharp edges of the blades 4 sub-divide the larger particles, and other large particles are stopped and returned to the container. |
