PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate an after-process such as the recovery of a cleaning agent by charging dry ice particles into an apparatus for producing toner or powdered coating during the operation of the apparatus and removing deposits inside the apparatus when the apparatus is cleaned at the change-over of the kinds and colors of the toner or the powdered coating. SOLUTION: When a toner producing apparatus comprising a premixer, a kneader, a crusher, a classifier, a surface treatment apparatus, a sieve, a packing apparatus, pipings attached to them, or the like, is cleaned, dry ice particles are charged into the apparatus, and the apparatus is operated. Deposits are removed from a surface to be cleaned by impact generated by the collision of the dry ice particles, sharp expansion of the particles due to sublimation, the difference in expansion coefficient between the surface and the deposits caused by rapid cooling by the particles. The removed deposits are recovered by a dust collector and the like, and used dry ice particles are released into the air by sublimation.
