PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent capable of being used for people sensitive to the irritation of the eye mucosa such as babies without anxiety, and especially suitable for shampoo. SOLUTION: This detergent composition is the one containing an amphoteric surfactant and a polyoxyethylene sorbitan type nonionic surfactant. The composition contains 1-15 wt.% sulfosuccinic acid-type anionic surfactant and 0.1-4 wt.% polyoxyethylene sorbitan type nonionic surfactant. The ratio of the sulfosuccinic acid-type anionic surfactant to the polyoxyethylene alkyl sulfate salt-type anionic surfactant by weight is (1:0.25)-(1:2). The ratio of the sulfosuccinic acid type anionic surfactant to the amount of the total of an imidazoline type, an amidobetaine type, and an alkylbetaine type amphoteric surfactants by weight is (1:0.25)-(1:2).
