The pipe is for sanitary applications, esp. in the shower. Its colouration and/or metallisation is achieved by film (7; 12), hot pressed onto a pipe (4; 11), which may be at least partially visible, and/or completely covered by it. A protective layer (8) covers this core. This covering, protective film (9) is at least locally transparent and/or translucent, and is advisably extruded-on, over the core. It (9) may be a multilayered, especially double-walled, plastic tube (1). The hot pressed film (7;12) without any backing material, has a thickness of 2.0-20 mu m, especially 3-5 mu m. In addition to the plastic pipe described, the method of manufacture, is also claimed.
