PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit-breaker improved in the current limiting performance and capable of shortening the interruption time. SOLUTION: This circuit-breaker is formed of a movable contact 8, a first fixed contact 6, a current limiting contact 14, a pair of normal side contacts B formed of a contact provided in the first fixed contact 6 and a contact provided in the movable contact 8, a pair of current limiting side contacts C formed of a contact provided in the current limiting contact 14 and a contact provided in the movable contact 8, and a pair of interrupting contacts A formed of a contact provided in the movable contact 8 and a contact provided in a second fixed contact 9. This circuit-breaker is also provided with a switch part capable of switching the circuit from the first fixed contact 6 side to the current limiting contact C side or switching reversely with the operation of the movable contact 8 so as to provide a mechanism capable of switching the circuit to the current limiting contact 14 side while opening the pair of normal side contacts B earlier than the pair of interrupting contacts A so as to close the pair of current limiting contacts C.
