METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DESIGNING COMMUNICATION NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically calculate the worst and best necessary link capacities, to optimize the topology of a network and to obtain a tool for deciding optimum router arrangement by permitting a link capacity value to express the upper limit and the lower limit of a link capacity range based on a link congestion scenario concerning a connection request and permitting a selected value to satisfy the connection request concerning specifications. SOLUTION: A pair of link capacities concerning each link to be included between nodes in the topology of a packet communication network are calculated. Then the link capacities are outputted on purpose for selecting the upper limit and lower limit ranges concerning each link. The link capacities here express the upper and lower limits of the link capacity range based on the link congestion scenario concerning a flow request group, a round-trip delay and the connection request and the selected value satisfies the connection request concerning the specifications. The necessary link capacities are calculated by a worst case link capacity designing processor 14 and/or a best link capacity designing processor 16.
