PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a distance between the centers of a plurality of optical fibers arranged in response to a plurality of optical communication elements by providing an optical axis converting part converting an optical axis of the light to a different axis in an optical axis converting block. SOLUTION: In an optical module, an optical axis converting block 215 converting an optical axis for converging light, optically connecting a light emitting element unit 202 and a transmitting optical fiber 207 together, and optically connecting a receiving optical fiber 214 and a light receiving element unit 209 together is arranged. Light rays emitted from a light emitting element 201 are refracted by a transmission side collimating part 203 so as to be turned into light rays parallel to an optical axis. The parallel light rays converge in a transmission side light converging part 206 so as to form an image on the end face of the transmitting optical fiber 207, and then, are propagated. Light rays emitted from a light receiving optical fiber 214 are refracted by a receiving side collimating part 213 so as to be turned into a beam of light parallel to the optical axis. The parallel light rays converge in a receiving side light converging part 210 so as to forming an image on a light receiving face of a light receiving element 208, and then, are converted into an electrical signal.
