PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a category unit, which can considerably easily cope with an increase in category of parts to be sorted by a part-handling apparatus and can be made compact with a simple structure, a part-handling apparatus and a method for sorting parts. SOLUTION: A category unit 410 is fitted inside a part-handling apparatus 1 to be adjacent to at least one of a plurality of set positions 403 for first trays 411 set by category to the part-handling apparatus, which can classify and sort parts to the plurality of first trays 411 corresponding with corresponding data for each part. The category unit 410 has a guide member 418 for movably holding at least one second tray 412 set by category, to which a plurality of parts can be taken out and loaded.
