PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting the liq. surface whereby the liq. surface can be accurately detected even if a vessel is filled with smoke, and there is no fear of rupture of the vessel even at a considerably high pressure in the vessel. SOLUTION: A fiber cable 9 for irradiating a light and a fiber cable 10 for receiving a reflected light are laid in a fluororesin-made cap the tip end of which is formed as a conical head 8, and inserted in a vessel 2 from its bottom side. As the result, even a high-viscosity liq. does not deposit to the conical head. When the liq. is above the head 8, the light reflects in the interior to detect the existence of the liq. and when the liq. is below the head 8, the light passes to detect the absence of the liq. |
