PURPOSE: To provide a method for selectively canceling print jobs to have been transmitted to a printer in a computer or the printer without turning off the printer. CONSTITUTION: A processor of a printer checks that a printing order is received from a computer through an input/output port(S201), and stores a transmitted printing data in a memory(S202). In addition, when a printer engine is ready to work by the processor(S203), an engine controller sends the printing data in the memory to the engine, which performs a print job(S204). Concurrently with performing the print job, the processor checks that a print cancel key is selected among several keys in an operating panel(S205), and then controls the controller to stop the engine and further checks that pages to cancel the print job are inputted(S206). Next, the processor detects the printing data corresponding to the pages from the memory(S207), and deletes the detected data (S208). Finally, the processor verifies that the print job is completed(S209) and closes a printing process(S210).
