OPTICAL ADD/DROP MULTIPLEXER USING CIRCULAR-TYPE OPTICAL RESONATOR FILTERS

PURPOSE: An optical add/drop multiplexer using circular-type optical resonator filters is provided to simplify a connection of an optical wave guide and an optical fiber by selectively adding or dropping a specific wavelength in a wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) communication method. CONSTITUTION: 3-dB optical combiners(12,14) are connected to input and output terminals. Circular-type optical resonator filters(13) is connected between 3-dB optical combiners(12,14). A fused coupler is used as 3-dB optical combiners(12,14). The 3-dB optical combiner(12) bisects an optical intensity of an inputted signal light and inputs the bisected signal to the circular-type optical resonator filters(13). The circular-type optical resonator filters(13) selects a signal light with a specific wavelength to reflect the selected signal light and passes a signal light with other wavelength.
