PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable this base isolation device to effectively exert its base- isolating function as a base isolation device for suppressing shaking of an upper structure against an earthquake even when the upper structure is lightweight as shown in personal dwelling houses, and to positively operate to suppress shaking of the upper structure while efforts are made to miniaturize the device and reduce the weight of the device even when oblique force from the horizontal direction is applied to the base isolation device. SOLUTION: Plural resin plates 3a, 3a,... and metal plates 3b, 3b,... are alternately laminated between an upper plate 1 and a lower plate 2 to support the upper plate 1 against the lower plate 2 to provide a supporting body 3. Each plate 3b of the supporting body 3, and the resin plate 3a adjacent to at least either of the upper side and the lower side of the metal plate 3b are structured to be relatively slidable horizontally. Because the resin plate 3a and the metal plate 3b are relatively slid horizontally, the outer peripheries of the upper plate 1 and the lower plate 2 are elastically connected to each other by a cylindrical rubber member 8 extending when the upper plate 1 is relatively moved horizontally relative to the lower plate 2.
