PURPOSE: An axial leakage prevention structure for scroll compressor is provided to achieve an improved volumetric efficiency by dividing the tip seal, thus preventing high pressure gas from flowing toward the low pressure side. CONSTITUTION: In a scroll compressor having a tip seal(21a) formed at the front end of the scroll wrap so as to prevent axial leakage from the high pressure side toward the low pressure side of the compression chamber, the tip seal is divided into two sections. By dividing the portion of the tip seal located within 180 degrees from the central front end of the scroll wrap, high pressure gas flowing toward the low pressure side along a tip seal groove is not capable of flowing beyond a separation wall(21b), thus preventing refrigerant leakage which otherwise occurs along the tip seal.
