PURPOSE: A VMC controller of HDTV is provided to prevent VMC from being output during OSD period but to display the text as normal to improve resolution. CONSTITUTION: A VMC controller of HDTV differentiates and amplifies the luminance signal and generates a VMC output. The controller includes a decoder, an RGB processor(500), an oSD processor(550), a VM output controller(600), and a VMC amplifier(650). The decoder outputs the luminance signal and a color difference signal. The RGB processor receives the luminance signal and the color difference signal and outputs an RGB color signal. The OSD processor outputs the OSD RGB signal and a second blanking signal to the RGB processor, The VM output controller receives the OSD RGB signal and the second blanking signal and prevents the VM output during the OSD interval. The VMC amplifier differentiates and amplifies the luminance signal and generates the VM output.
