METHOD FOR DISPLAYING THREE DIMENSIONAL IMAGE FROM TWO DIMENSIONAL IMAGE

PURPOSE: A three dimensional image display method out of two dimensional image is provided to get a three dimensional image for an object having shading out of one image by displaying left eye image and right eye image in turns. CONSTITUTION: A convex curved surface area that exists in two dimensional input image is detected to presume a direction of illumination light(100). A convex shape is approximated to agree very well with an image intensity of these areas for the convex areas that is detected above(200). A direction of illumination light is decided through the process of shape approximation(300). A depth is calculated out of two dimensional input image having the direction of light source and shading(400). An observer's left eye image and right eye image is reorganized from two dimensional input image by using depth calculated above(500). The left eye and right eye image reorganized above is displayed in turns at the observer's left eye and right eye(600).
