PURPOSE: A device for sensing disc position in a compact disc player is provided to sense the disc position by pushing a button according to the mechanical operation. CONSTITUTION: A compact disc player comprises a main body; a magazine(110) disposed at one side of the main body, a plurality of trays(111) on which a disc is positioned being stacked therein; a lifting/lowering plate(120) disposed at the other side of the main body, for performing a lifting/lowering operation to find a selected disc on the tray(111); a transfer motor(131) for generating power to transfer the selected disc to the lifting/lowering plate(120); a rotating member(133), a hinge member(135) and a hook(137) for being moved by the transfer motor(131) for transferring the selected disc to the lifting/lower plate(120); and a button(145) and a transmitting member(140) for receiving power from the rotating member(133), and sensing position of the disc transferred to the lifting/lowering plate(120). In the device for sensing the disc position of the compact disc player, the transmitting member(140) operated by rotating power of the transfer motor directly pushes the button(145) for sensing the disc position, which results in stability.
