PURPOSE: A data decoding device is provided to reduce an access load of a DRAM by appending a memory for an error correction code(ECC) and using the DRAM for an interface only. CONSTITUTION: A CD-DSP(21) performs an error correction of a CD using a cross interleaved reed-Solomon code(CIRC) comprising a C1 code and a C2 code. A DVD-DSP(22) corrects an error generated from a DVD by a parity inner and parity outer error correction. A multiplexer(23) selects and outputs the data corrected in the CD-DSP(21) and the DVD-DSP(22). A serial input unit(24) receives data outputted from the multiplexer(23) and outputs in serial. A parallel input unit(25) receives data outputted from the multiplexer(23) and outputs in parallel. A multiplexer(26) selects and outputs the data in the serial input unit(24) and the parallel input unit(25). A memory control unit(27) controls data outputted through the multiplexer(26), a storing of a hierarchial ECC data and an error correction. An SRAM(28) stores data outputted through the multiplexer(26) and outputs the data for ECC in accordance with the control of the memory control unit(27). An ECC unit(29) receives data corrected in the CD-DSP(21) through a SRAM(28) and performs a hierarchial ECC. A memory control unit(30) controls a storing of data outputted through the memory control unit(27) and an interface to a host bar. A DRAM(31) stores the corrected data by the control of the memory control unit(30) and outputs the corrected data stored for transmitting to a host computer. An ATAPI interface(32) transmits the data outputted through the memory control unit(30) to the external host computer.
