A modular construction system uses preformed room-size U-shaped modules (A, B) and preformed room-size L-shaped modules (AL) to form modular housing such as apartments, hotels and the like. The modules may be formed of reinforced concrete. By using U-shaped modules juxtaposed, perpendicular or in parallel (36, 36) with one another, in combination with rotated L-shaped modules (36, 40), double walls within units may be avoided, thus simplifying construction and reducing costs.
