PURPOSE: A preparation method of a styrene polymer having narrow molecular weight dispersion and copolymer thereof are provided which manufacture a symmetrical polymer using a stable free radical having a wide range of applicability compared to conventional tempo and more useful commercially. CONSTITUTION: A styrene polymer having narrow molecular weight dispersion and copolymer thereof, block copolymer, hyper branched or graft copolymer are prepared by reacting 0.001 to 10 mole of a stable free radical having novel two or more of nitroxide groups represented by the formula (1) with 100 mole of a monomer polymerizable in a mole ratio of 0.5 to 5 times with an initiator at 100 to 160°C. In formula, n is 1, 2, 3, 4, R1, R2 each independently are methyl or ethyl, R1, R2 each is pentamethylene.
