PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the corrosion of a stainless steel part by providing a sacrifice anticorrosive material in the connecting part of the stainless steel member of the load support part of an expansion joint. SOLUTION: This expansion joint comprises a facing part and a load support part 3, and it is interposed between a base isolation structure and the ground to connect the both to each other. The support part 3 comprises a vertically rigid bent plate 8 consisting of thick stainless plate welded in substantially X-shape and a plate spring with substantially C-shaped sectional profile consisting of thin stainless steel plate which is a horizontally expansible and contractible elastic member 9, both the members 8, 9 being alternately arranged so that the support member 3 is horizontally displaceable relative to a displacement of earthquake. A sacrifice anticorrosive member 11 consisting of aluminum foil or zinc foil is arranged in the connecting part by welding between the stainless steel components of the support part 3 and the electrically contact part adjacent thereto. According to this, since an electric circuit can be formed to prevent the corrosion, the corrosion of the stainless steel member can be prevented over a long period of time.
