PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building material for external facings which is free of separation between coating layers formed on a ceramic building material far external facings, hardly allows efflorescence to occur, is excellent in weatherability, water resistance, and durability, and can retain a beautiful appearance for a long term. SOLUTION: This building material has at least two coating layers respeetively formed from aqueous coating materials each containing a polymer having cyclohexyl groups on the surface of a ceramic building material for external facings, The molar ratio of the cyclohexyl group content of the outermost coating layer to that of the coating layer just beneath the outermost coating layer is 0.1-50. The molar ratio is preferably 1-15. Preferably, each of the coating materials contains a synthetic resin emulsion prepared by the emulsion polymerization of a monomer component containing cyclohexyl (meth) acrylate.
