PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of a foam sensor by controlling wire shaking caused by swing of optical fiber wire even in increase in wire drawing speed. SOLUTION: In this method for producing an optical fiber wire by heating and softening an optical fiber preform, drawing an optical fiber downward, subjecting the optical fiber to wire drawing, coating the optical fiber and producing an optical fiber wire 11 while twisting the optical fiber around an axis by a periodically rocking guide roller 13, a wire shaking controlling guide roller 12' having a V-shaped narrow groove is installed between a coating process and the rocking guide roller 13 and the rocking guide roller is disposed at a position to bend the advance direction of the optical fiber wire 11 by the wire shaking controlling guide roller 12'.
