PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of warning to quickly cancel the over lightning state that has a possibility of sunburn and the like, in case of removal of television camera. SOLUTION: A television camera 7 with a built-in CCD 11 is mounted removably on an eye part 10 of a rigid endoscope 6. A signal which is imaged with the CCD 11 is inputted to an image signal processing device 4 and the generated image signal is outputted to a monitor 5 and the generated lightning signal passes through a control circuit 22 in a light source device 3 and is inputted to a lens diaphragm control circuit 21 and an over lightning detecting circuit 31 that detects the over lightning state. Then the diaphragm control circuit 21 controls the aperture of diaphragm to modulate lighting automatically. By detecting the big diaphragm control signal that makes the diaphragm 18 open wen the output signal level is down and the lightning signal becomes dark, with the over lightning detecting circuit 31, in case the television camera 7 is removed from the rigid endoscope 6, it is possible to worn with a warning means 32 to cancel the over lightning state quickly.
