PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic elevator device whose stationary pulley for bearing the counterweight that relaxes the car lifting load can be installed easily. SOLUTION: A liftable pulley 12 is journalled to the upper end of a plunger 10 of a hydraulic jack 8, so that a main rope 14 connected to a car 2 is driven by way of the liftable pulley 12. A liftable pulley rail 17 for guiding the liftable pulley 12 is supported at its lower end on the upper end of a cylinder 9 of the hydraulic jack 8. To the upper end of the liftable pulley rail 17 is journalled a stationary pulley 28, over which a subsidiary rope 22 is looped with one end coupled to the liftable pulley 12 and the other to a counterweight 21 for relaxing the car lifting load. The load that the subsidiary rope 22 applies to the stationary pulley 28 is borne by the hydraulic jack 8. The stationary pulley 28 can be thus installed irrespective of the construction of a hoistway 1.
