摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase durability of an electrode by forming an electrode material having a fibrous structure from a sintered alloy and making up a welding face to press the work with the end face of the fibrous structure. SOLUTION: An electrode material 1 composed of a sintered alloy of tungsten is rolled with hot rolling rolls 2, straightened by straightening rolls 3, then annealed in a heating oven 4, and pickled in a cleaning tank 5. The electrode material 1 rolled to the final thickness with warm rolling rolls 6 is cut into the shape of electrodes 24, 25 by a wire cut method. Haircracks caused on the cut surface are removed by polishing. For the sintered alloy, ore is crushed and refined and then reduced, and the powder material is sintered to obtain an ingot. The ingot may be either a slab or billet. The rolling can be done either by a straight rolling method or by a cross rolling method. The durability of the welding face of the electrodes 24, 25 is improved, and base metals with low resistivity such as copper and copper alloy can be welded without damages such as deformation.
