SIZING AGENT COMPOSITION AND PAPER FOR OFFSET PRINTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sizing agent composition having high opacity and high surface strength free from troubles such as winding of paper on a blanket cylinder and break in offset printing and a paper for offset printing coated with the composition. SOLUTION: This sizing agent composition comprises a coating agent composed of a polyvinyl alcohol (component A) having >=98 mol% degree of saponification and a starch having 0.5-8% elution ratio in water at 30 deg.C or its derivative in the weight ratio of the component A to the component B of 90:10 to 60:40 and 20-500 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the coating agent of a loading material (the component C). This paper for offset printing has the surface coated with the sizing agent composition and has the weight ratio of the component A to the component B of 50:50-0:100 in an eluted substance when immersed in water.
