This invention relates to apparatus for cleaning submerged surfaces and a manoeuvrable floating dock including such apparatus. A cleaning device of the invention is adapted to clean a submerged surface and includes one or more cleaning means, a peripheral skirt about the or each cleaning means adapted to contact the surface to be cleaned and substantially isolate a region of that surface, and one or more inlet to a suction means adapted to draw the cleaning device towards the surface and remove particulate material dislodged by the cleaning means in operation. The cleaning device may include, for example, five cleaning means in a 2:3 configuration, each cleaning means comprising a rotatable water jet or jets, the angle of the nozzles of which may be adjustable. Each cleaning device or panel may be connected to a floating dock by a hydraulically controlled telescopic arm. The floating dock, which may be in the form of a manoeuvrable and semi-submergable U-shaped ship hull, may include a suction mechanism providing the suction to each cleaning device, a debris removal mechanism for removing particulate material from fluid discharged from the suction mechanism, and a high pressure water system for the water jets.
