The cooling device is for an engine having first and second cylinder blocks. It has a circular pump chamber (134) for an impeller (133) within the pump housing (129) of a water pump (128). The pump chamber is located between two cooling jackets. An upper and a lower discharge path (135,136) are connected to a top or a lower end section of the pump chamber. First and second connection pipes (137,138) have inner ends connected to the discharge paths, and outer ends, forming discharge apertures (139,140) and extending towards the pump housing.
