PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a ruled line by which the precisional polygonal line-shaped ruled line is easily and surely formed on a sheet material. SOLUTION: A cutter knife 5 for forming a kerf and a press tool 6 are fitted to the head part 4 of the body 2 of an automatic drafting machine equipped with an electronic controller 3. An elastic member 9 having an air hole is placed on the top surface of a top board 8 having a through-hole for producing a vacuum. A receiving layout sheet 26 is placed on the top surface of the elastic member 9. The kerf with a prescribed shape is formed on the receiving layout sheet 26 by the cutter knife 5 according to a program preset in the electronic controller 3. Also, after a clipping window is formed in the unnecessary part excepting the kerf, a sheet to be worked for forming a sample is adsorbed on the receiving layout sheet 26. The ruled line having prescribed depth along the kerf is formed on the sheet to be worked by the press tool 6 fitted to the head part 4.
