PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustor in which combustion of a burner is prevented from being sustained under a state where oxygen for combustion is deficient. SOLUTION: A combustor comprising a reference voltage holding means 40 determining a reference voltage for detecting deficiency of oxygen for combustion based on the output voltage from a thermocouple 20 corresponding to the combustion state of a burner, and an oxygen deficiency monitoring means 41 for interrupting combustion of the burner when the output voltage from the thermocouple 20 drops below the reference voltage is further provided with means 42 for making a decision whether the concentration of oxygen for combustion has recovered to a specified level or not. The reference voltage holding means 40 holds the reference voltage when combustion of the burner is interrupted until a decision is made that the concentration has recovered to the specified level and the oxygen deficiency monitoring means 41 monitors deficiency of oxygen based on the reference voltage when combustion of the burner is interrupted held in the reference voltage holding means 40.
