PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a skin-bleaching composition that is suitable for external use, has the activity of inhibiting melanin synthesis and can whiten the skin by admixing an extract of bearberry and an effective amount of a reducing agent for increasing the skin-whitening action of the extract. SOLUTION: This bleaching composition comprises (A) a bearberry extract, preferably extracted from Pentapharm, (B) an effective amount of a reducing agent for increasing the skin-bleaching action of the component A (preferably a formaldehyde donor, for example, allaintoin-formaldehyde condensation product containing diazolydinyl urea or the like, preferably in an mount of about 0.001-99 mass % of the component A and about 0.001-99 mass % of the component B. In a preferred embodiment, this composition is prepared in the pharmaceutical form of cream, ointment, foam or the like. |
