PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the drop of the life of a constant velocity universal joint by reducing the fear of the generation of a big concentration stress between the ball groove of the inner race and the ball of the constant velocity universal joint. SOLUTION: This constant velocity universal joint is a fixed type ball joint consisting of an inner race 10, cage, outer race and ball. A notch 13 is provided on the outer periphery 11 side of the one end side of the axis direction of a projection 10a formed between first ball grooves 12 of the inner race and a wide part 14a whose circumferential direction chamfering width C1 as advancing to the notch side becomes wider gradually is provided on the side chamfered surface 14 provided on the ridgeline between the outer periphery of the inner race and the first ball groove and the radius direction depth of the notch is reduced. Thereby, even if the contact ellipse between the first ball groove and the ball is moved by the rolling of the ball, such fear that the notch is entered in the contact ellipse and the stress concentration is generated is reduced.
