SAFETY DEVICE OF SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE: A safety device of secondary battery is provided to prevent the jam of a cap hole due to the deformation of a rubber member, thereby assuring the safety against explosion and high speed charge/discharge. CONSTITUTION: A safety device of secondary battery comprises a cap assembly(20) sealed on the upper opening of a can(12) via an insulator gasket(10). An electrode unit(14) is contained in the can(12). A rubber member(60) is mounted in the space between a cap(4) and a cap cover(8) consisting the cap assembly(20) in order to prevent the explosion of the battery due to inner pressure increase. A valve hole(8a) and a cap hole(4a) formed in the cap cover(8) and the cap(4) are opened by the compression of the rubber member(60) due to pressure increase, thereby quickly exhausting gas.
