PURPOSE: A cap assembly of rectangular secondary battery is provided to prevent outer short generated due to narrow gap between an anode plate and a cathode plate, thereby reducing defective ratio and enhancing productivity. CONSTITUTION: A cap assembly of rectangular secondary battery comprises an electrode roll(2), a can(4), and a cap assembly(60). Anode, cathode and separators are together wound on the electrode roll(2) which is contained in the can(4) having the cap assembly(60) mounted on its top opening. Liquid electrolyte is injected through an injection hole(8) formed on the cap assembly(60), which is sealed. Insulation plates(10a,10b) are respectively mounted on both ends of the electrode roll(2) in order to insulating between the can(4) and the cap assembly(60). An insulation layer(26) is coated on a cathode plate(12), in the mmiddle part of which an anode plate(14) is disposed. All of them are assembled by a through rivet(18).
