摘要 PURPOSE: An optical wavelength converter of cross gain modulation mode is provided to expand the strength range of input signal, thereby solving the problems such as the reduction of extinction ratio, inversion of bit stream and narrow input dynamic area. CONSTITUTION: An optical wavelength converter of cross gain modulation mode comprises a semiconductor optical amplifier(27), a continuous wave light source(26), a tab coupler(21), a photo detector(22), a high gain amplifier(23), an adder(24), and a current driver(25). Bias current varied in accordance with the signal strength of pump light is provided to the continuous wave light source(26). Pump light(29) and probe light(30) are input to the amplifier(27). The portion of the pump light(29) is input to the adder(24) through the tab coupler(21), the photo detector(22) and the high gain amplifier(23). The current driver(25) controls the strength of probe light(30) by applying the bias current to the light source(26).
