The bread slicing machine has a base (2) with an opening (3) to allow insertion of bread into a guide (4) toward a cutter (5) housed in a compartment in the base. A ramp (8) guides the cut slices toward an outlet (9) which has a hinged protective cover (10). The cover is linked to the guide ramp so that when the cover is opened the guide ramp blocks access to the cutter.
