The invention concerns a plant for making building elements by compression from a mixture of gypsum plaster, a granular filler and water in moulds (10), comprising two axially aligned actuators (54) for moving the plates (50 and 52) of one mould towards the other, said two actuators (54) being linked with each other via a mould (10) and tie rods (62) fixed on the cylinders (56) of the actuator and fastened on the side walls (64) of the mould, said tie rods operating in traction and supporting the compressive load of the mixture in the mould between the plates (50 and 52).
