The invention relates to a drive mechanism for driving the second drive shaft of a four wheel drive vehicle comprising a hydraulic clutch dependent on speed differences. The drive mechanism consists of a driven housing (2) and two half shafts which can be connected to said housing by one friction clutch (6, 7) each. The friction clutches are actively connected to a hydraulic displacement motor (10) which becomes functional when a speed difference arises between the housing and half shaft. To achieve optimal torque splitting and an economical and compact construction the half shafts (4,5 ) are connected to each other via a three-membered averaging drive (20). The first (21) and second (22) members are each joined to one half shaft (4, 5) in a driving manner and the third member (23) rotates at a speed which is the mean of the speeds of the first and second member. A single hydraulic displacement motor (10) is provided for whose first rotor (11) is joined to the third member (23) of the averaging drive (20) in a driving manner and which is actively connected to the two friction clutches (6, 7). |
