The prodn. of cup-shaped breast prostheses consisting of an addn.-crosslinked 2-component silicone material (I) encased in plastic film (II), comprises mixing (I) with a low-density filler consisting of hollow spheres or micro-spheres (III), filling the plastic film mould (II) with this mixt. in the usual way, de-aerating the mixt. and hardening it by heating while rotating the material constantly about one or two axes until the degree of crosslinking is sufficient to prevent the filler (III) floating to the surface (method a). Alternatively, the viscosity of the mixt. is increased to a level at which the filler can no longer separate (method b), or the mix is caused to gel before the filler can separate by adding catalysts and crosslinkers (method c), or the filler has an initial density equal to that of material (I) and only expands to its final low density under the action of heat during the curing process (method d).
|
