PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily and rapidly obtain the physical position of a desired sector by constituting a logical track of n-power pieces (n is an integer) of 2 and making the difference between the number of the logical tracks corresponding to a zone and the number of the logical tracks corresponding to the adjacent zone. SOLUTION: One sector is composed of 1024 bytes as the constitution of a disk 2. The head part 4 of each sector 8 has two address parts. Each of the address parts has a track address part 6, a sector address part 5 and an ID part. The number of the zones is not 31 but 30. Each zone has 752 pieces of the physical tracks. Further, each logical track has the sectors of the 4-power of 2, i.e., 16 pieces. The track address is composed of 16 bits and is used for indicating the values from 0 up to 22560. The sector address is composed of 4 bits and is used for indicating the values from 0 up to 15.
